Helping Youth
Feel At Home

MY House has been caring for homeless and vulnerable youth for 6 years. We've provided unconditional love as our highest goal. Along with this, we've helped over 250 youth access meals, showers, laundry, counseling, medical care, detox, employment and a second chance.

And now...

there's room for you too.

You can help youth feel at home.

We are embarking on a mission to be even more integrated in our community. There are many who, like us, desire to help the most vulnerable youth. You can help youth feel at home in very practical ways.
MY House now has room for you too.
Join the "FRIENDS OF MY HOUSE"
Our programming is unique in that it focuses on unconditional love in a home environment. In addition, we're closely partnered with all major government and agency service providers.

Thank you for sponsoring MY House!

Impact on Youth
MY House has been impactful on many accounts. In brief, we have:
  • Directly helped youth enter treatment programs for substance abuse with continued support throughout the program
  • We continue the treatment discussion with many youth
  • Provided pre-natal and baby support
  • Assisted in parole compliance
  • Assisted in accessing housing or shelter
  • Helped youth connect with family
  • Assisted youth with accessing and receiving essential government services
  • Provided support through extreme mental health crisis
  • Enrolled youth in formal work readiness support
  • Facilitated creative art projects for therapy and relaxation
  • Connected youth to Ministry of Children and Family Development and Xyolhemeylh Child and Family Services
  • Provided medical care and counseling services through the Rotary Youth Medical Clinic
  • Host youth substance use and foster care experience discussion groups with counselor facilitators.
  • Hosted MY House Family Meals. Everyone sits around the table sharing stories, substance abuse and mental health support, laughs, tears and hope. Counselors and health professionals join the meal to connect with youth.
  • Daily, staff and volunteers care for youth by providing a warm and loving home environment with food, access to showers and laundry, counseling and assistance with essential supports.

In a typical year, MY House is accessed 2100 times by approximately 125 different youth. Each month we see an average of 50 different youth of whom an average of 14 are homeless. Nearly all visitors receive food. There are 250 engagements in Family Meal, 160 uses of laundry facilities, 500 times clothes are given out, and showers used 325 times.

MY House basically saved my life. Friends recommended it to me. The love I felt there made me stay.
